Atlas Analyze: AI-powered training insights at a glance

Introducing Atlas Analyze, a new capability for Ride Cave's AI coach that automatically analyzes your training history and provides personalized insights, key observations, and actionable recommendations.

The Expanding Role of AI in Training

When we launched Atlas, our AI training coach, we had a clear vision: bring genuinely useful AI capabilities to cyclists without the usual premium paywalls and marketing hype. Atlas started as a conversational coach—ask questions, get advice, generate workouts, create training plans. It's been working well, and we've been learning from how riders actually use it.

But conversation has a limitation. You have to initiate it. You have to know what to ask. Many cyclists finish a workout and go about their day without stopping to reflect on their training patterns. That's where Atlas Analyze comes in.

Atlas Analyze is a new capability that proactively examines your recent training and delivers insights without you having to ask. It's the difference between having a coach who answers questions and having a coach who reviews your training log and comes to you with observations.

What Atlas Analyze Does

When you click the Analyze button on your home page, Atlas reviews your training data from the past two weeks—completed workouts, power data, duration, training stress—and cross-references it with your upcoming scheduled workouts from your active training plan or Intervals.icu calendar.

From this data, Atlas generates a concise training report with three sections:

A Summary that captures your recent training load and trend in 2-3 sentences. Are you building volume? Recovering from a hard block? Maintaining consistency? The summary gives you the big picture.

A Key Insight that highlights the single most important observation from your data. This might be a pattern you haven't noticed, a warning sign to watch, or a positive trend worth continuing. Atlas looks for what matters most right now.

Recommendations that provide 3-5 specific, actionable bullet points. These aren't generic advice—they reference your actual workouts, dates, and training patterns. If you skipped a key session, Atlas will mention it. If you're due for a recovery day, you'll know.

Activity-Based Caching

AI analysis isn't free to run. Each report requires computational resources, and generating the same analysis repeatedly would be wasteful. So Atlas Analyze uses activity-based caching.

After generating an analysis, the report is cached. It stays cached until you complete another workout. Once new training data exists, the next time you request an analysis, Atlas generates a fresh report incorporating your latest session.

This approach has two benefits. First, it keeps costs reasonable—you're not burning API calls for unchanged data. Second, it ensures analysis is always relevant. There's no point re-analyzing the same training. The moment you add new data, the old analysis becomes stale and a fresh one is warranted.

When you view a cached report, you'll see a "Cached" badge and a note explaining that completing another workout will generate a fresh analysis.

Where to Find It

The Analyze button lives in your home page header, next to the Instant Workout button. It's always one click away when you're browsing your workouts or calendar.

Click Analyze, wait 10-20 seconds while Atlas processes your data, and receive your personalized training report. You can save the analysis as a training note for future reference, which adds it to your profile alongside other saved Atlas content.

Part of a Growing AI Toolkit

Atlas Analyze is the second major capability we've added to Atlas, following the conversational coaching features. But it won't be the last.

We're building toward a comprehensive AI-powered training assistant that understands your data, anticipates your needs, and provides value without requiring constant prompting. Future capabilities might include automatic workout recommendations based on fatigue state, plan adjustments when you miss sessions, and deeper pattern recognition across longer training timeframes.

Each new capability builds on the same foundation: your training data, analyzed through the lens of established sports science, presented in ways that are actually useful rather than just impressive.

AI as Standard Equipment

We've said it before and we'll keep saying it: AI features are rapidly becoming standard expectations for modern software. Just like you expect responsive design, dark mode, and mobile support, you'll increasingly expect your tools to understand context and provide intelligent assistance.

Some platforms treat AI as a premium upsell. We think that approach will age poorly. Riders don't want to pay extra for their software to be useful. They want software that works well, and AI is becoming part of what 'works well' means.

Atlas Analyze is available to Tier 1 supporters as part of the growing suite of Atlas capabilities. It's not a separate product or an add-on. It's just what Atlas does now.

Try It Now

If you have access to Atlas, the Analyze button is waiting on your home page. Complete a few workouts to give Atlas something to analyze, click the button, and see what your AI coach has observed about your training.

And as always, if you have feedback on what Atlas Analyze surfaces—or ideas for what it should look for—we're listening.
