Terms of Service
Effective Date: January 15, 2025
Last Updated: September 14, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and Cave Works LLC, a Michigan limited liability company ("Cave Works," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your access to and use of the Ride Cave application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Ride Cave is intellectual property owned and operated by Cave Works LLC.
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING THE SERVICE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, YOU MAY NOT ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE.
The Short Version (Plain English)
This summary is here to be helpful. It is not a substitute for the full Terms below, which control if there is ever any conflict. In plain language:
- You can ride Ride Cave free, or unlock Cave Crew monthly, with a one-year Season Pass (a single payment, no auto-renew), or with a one-time lifetime purchase. Lifetime means access for as long as we operate the Service, not a guaranteed number of years. If we ever shut the Service down within one year of your lifetime purchase, we will refund you on a pro-rata basis.
- What is free today is not guaranteed to stay free. As Ride Cave evolves, we may move features between the free and paid tiers, including features that are free right now. If that happens, we never delete the content you already created, though your ability to use or edit some features may become limited to Cave Crew.
- Your data is yours. If your membership lapses or you move to a lower tier, we do not delete the content you created (your rides, plans, workouts, routes, and history); you simply lose access to the paid features until you rejoin, and you can export your workout data at any time.
- Lifetime covers the Cave Crew cycling membership and the new features we add to it. It is not a credit for optional add-ons (such as cosmetic items or a rider kit), and genuinely new, standalone products may be offered separately.
- You can cancel a subscription anytime and keep access through the end of the period you paid for. Lifetime is a one-time payment with nothing to cancel.
- Like most apps, we include liability limits, an arbitration agreement (which you can opt out of), and health and safety disclaimers. Please read them.
1. Eligibility
1.1 Minimum Age
To use the Service, you must be at least 13 years of age. If you are under 18 years of age, you represent that you have obtained the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use the Service and agree to these Terms. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements. Some features, including coaching between users, are available only to users 18 years of age or older.
1.2 Age Verification
Certain features of the Service require age verification. A date of birth on your profile is required to enable real-time riding with others (including presence sharing, shared roads, and in-ride communications) and to participate in Groups and voice communication. Free-text in-ride chat is available only to users 18 years of age or older, verified from your date of birth. We use this information solely to verify eligibility and to apply age-appropriate privacy protections. You agree to provide your true and accurate date of birth when prompted; misrepresenting your age to circumvent these protections is a violation of these Terms.
1.3 Protections for Minors
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 are subject to additional protections. Minor users' profiles are automatically set to private and cannot be made public. This means that other users cannot view a minor's ride history, fitness statistics, custom workouts, or other profile information beyond their username and avatar. In addition, users under 18 (and users whose age we cannot verify) cannot send free-text messages in in-ride chat and are never shown free-text messages from other riders; they may use only the curated quick-messages we provide. These protections are enforced automatically on our servers and cannot be overridden.
2. Description of Service
Ride Cave is a virtual indoor cycling platform that allows users to complete structured workouts, connect smart trainers and fitness devices, track performance metrics, and synchronize activities with third-party fitness platforms. The Service includes features such as virtual courses, custom workout creation, leaderboards, public and private user profiles, social features, real-time riding with other users on shared roads, live group riding with voice communication, AI-powered coaching, and integration with services like Strava, Intervals.icu, and other fitness platforms.
2.1 Groups and Voice Communication
The Service includes live group riding features that allow users to ride together in real time, share live performance data (such as power, heart rate, and cadence), and communicate via voice chat. Groups are temporary sessions that expire after a maximum duration or period of inactivity. Group creators ("hosts") have moderation authority, including the ability to mute or silence participants. Participation in groups requires age verification (minimum age 13).
2.2 Atlas AI Coach
The Service includes Atlas, an AI-powered training assistant that provides coaching suggestions, generates custom workouts, creates periodized training plans, analyzes recent training activity, and can convert images of workouts into structured sessions. Atlas is available to subscribers.
ATLAS IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL COACHING, MEDICAL ADVICE, OR A QUALIFIED HEALTHCARE PROVIDER. Atlas provides general cycling training suggestions based on the information you provide and general sports science knowledge. Atlas does not have access to your medical history, physical limitations, or individual health conditions. You should always consult with a qualified healthcare provider before beginning or modifying any exercise program. You acknowledge that:
- AI-generated workouts and training plans are suggestions only and may not be suitable for your individual fitness level, health status, or goals.
- You are solely responsible for evaluating the appropriateness of any AI-generated content before following it.
- AI responses may contain errors, inaccuracies, or recommendations that are not optimal for your specific circumstances.
- Image-to-workout conversion may produce inaccurate results depending on image quality and format.
- We do not guarantee the effectiveness, safety, or suitability of any AI-generated training content.
2.3 Coaching Between Users
The Service lets one adult user (a "coach") help another adult user (an "athlete") with training, when the athlete agrees. A coach is another user of the Service. A coach is not Cave Works and is not our employee, agent, contractor, or partner. We do not select, vet, endorse, certify, supervise, or control coaches, and we do not verify any coach's qualifications, certifications, or fitness to advise. Any coaching relationship is strictly between the coach and the athlete.
Coaching is available only to users 18 years of age or older. Both the coach and the athlete must be adults, verified from the date of birth on each account.
A coaching relationship begins only when one party requests it and the other accepts. By accepting a coach, the athlete grants that coach access to their training data as described in our Privacy Policy, and agrees that accepting a coach makes the two of them mutual followers, which lets the coach see the athlete's profile and ride history even if the profile is private, subject to the athlete's own visibility settings. A coach on a paid plan may also make changes to the athlete's account, including editing training numbers (such as FTP and weight) and creating, editing, activating, deactivating, and deleting the athlete's training plans. Changes a coach makes take effect immediately and are treated as changes to the athlete's own account, and are recorded in an activity log visible to the athlete.
Either party may end the coaching relationship at any time, which immediately ends the coach's access. Blocking the other party also ends it. An athlete may have only one active coach at a time.
If you act as a coach, you agree to:
- Use an athlete's data only to coach that athlete, and keep it confidential.
- Not copy, export, retain, publish, or share an athlete's data for any other purpose.
- Not make changes the athlete has not asked for or agreed to.
- Comply with all applicable laws.
Coaching does not transfer ownership of the athlete's data to you; your access is a limited permission the athlete can withdraw at any time.
A COACH IS ANOTHER USER, NOT CAVE WORKS. COACHING ADVICE, PLANS, AND ACCOUNT CHANGES PROVIDED BY A COACH ARE THE COACH'S OWN AND ARE NOT ADVICE FROM CAVE WORKS. COACHING IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE AND IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A QUALIFIED HEALTHCARE PROVIDER. YOU RELY ON A COACH AT YOUR OWN RISK.
We provide the tools that let a coach and an athlete connect and share data; we are not a party to, and are not responsible for, what they do with them. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cave Works is not liable for any act, omission, advice, edit, deletion, conduct, or communication of a coach or an athlete, or for any injury, loss, or harm arising from a coaching relationship. Disputes between a coach and an athlete are between those two users.
2.4 Public Profiles and Social Features
The Service allows users to create public profiles, follow other users, and discover other riders. When you enable a public profile, information you choose to share — including your username, avatar, fitness statistics, ride history, custom workouts, and track records — becomes visible to other users. You control which categories of information are visible through granular privacy settings. See our Privacy Policy for details on what information is shared.
2.5 Health and Fitness Analytics
The Service computes and displays derived health and fitness metrics from data collected by your connected sensors (such as heart rate monitors, power meters, and breathing sensors). These metrics may include, but are not limited to:
- Heart rate variability (HRV) metrics such as RMSSD, SDNN, and pNN50, derived from beat-to-beat (RR) interval data transmitted by your heart rate monitor.
- Premature ventricular contraction (PVC) pattern detection, which uses a mathematical pattern-matching algorithm applied to RR interval sequences.
- Breathing and ventilation metrics such as breathing rate, minute ventilation, tidal volume, and breathing efficiency, derived from compatible breathing sensors.
- Cardiac drift and aerobic decoupling analysis, which compares power-to-heart-rate ratios over the duration of a ride.
- Energy system analysis including training stress, strain decomposition, and anaerobic reserve (W'bal) tracking.
THESE ANALYTICS ARE PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THEY DO NOT CONSTITUTE MEDICAL ADVICE, MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS, OR A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL EVALUATION.
The health and fitness metrics displayed by the Service are computed using general-purpose algorithms applied to consumer-grade sensor data. They are not validated for clinical use and should not be used to diagnose, treat, or monitor any medical condition. Specifically, you acknowledge that:
- PVC detection is a simplified pattern-matching algorithm, not a medical-grade cardiac arrhythmia diagnostic. It may produce false positives or miss actual arrhythmias. It is not a substitute for an electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) or evaluation by a cardiologist.
- HRV metrics are derived from optical or chest-strap heart rate sensors, which have inherent limitations in accuracy compared to clinical-grade equipment. HRV values should not be used to assess cardiac health or diagnose cardiovascular conditions.
- Breathing and ventilation metrics depend on the accuracy of your breathing sensor hardware and may not reflect true physiological values. They should not be used to diagnose or monitor respiratory conditions.
- All analytics are subject to sensor noise, motion artifacts, connection dropouts, and algorithmic limitations that may produce inaccurate results.
- If you have concerns about your heart rate, heart rhythm, breathing, or any other aspect of your health, you should consult a qualified healthcare provider. Do not delay seeking medical attention based on information provided by the Service.
2.6 Service Availability
The Service is offered on an "as-is" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice, and without liability to you.
2.7 Real-Time Riding With Others
The Service lets signed-in riders see and interact with each other in real time. Ride Cave is an indoor platform: positions shared by these features are your avatar's position along the virtual route you are riding, derived from the route's map geometry, not your physical location, which the Service never collects. If real-time riding is enabled (it is on by default and can be turned off at any time in settings), riders on the same virtual route can see your avatar's live position, speed, and lane during your ride, and your mutual follows can see that you are riding, which route you are on, your coarse progress, and your avatar's coarsened position on that route. You appear anonymously to riders who are not your mutual follows unless your profile is public. Live sessions include in-ride communications: curated quick-messages for all riders, and short free-text chat for verified adults (18+) only. Chat is filtered on our servers, delivered live, and not stored; we keep no chat logs. Sessions are limited in size, and we may adjust limits, throttle updates, or restrict or disable real-time features at any time to protect the Service and its users. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what is shared, with whom, and for how long.
3. Subscriptions and Purchases
3.1 Free and Paid Tiers
Ride Cave offers a free tier and a paid membership called Cave Crew. The free tier includes core riding and training features, subject to certain usage limits. Cave Crew unlocks additional features, including adaptive Auto Train plans, ongoing Atlas AI coaching, the full Data Lab, and other optimization tools. We may add, change, remove, or move features between the free and paid tiers at any time, including features that were previously available at no cost or at a different tier. This means functionality that was available to you may be reduced, limited, or made available only to Cave Crew members. Moving or changing a feature does not delete content you have already created or saved (such as your plans, workouts, routes, and activity history), although your ability to create or edit that content may become limited to paid tiers.
3.2 Membership Options and Billing
Cave Crew is available as a recurring monthly subscription, as a Season Pass (a one-time payment for one year of access that does not automatically renew), or as a one-time lifetime purchase, in each case processed through our third-party payment processor, Stripe. Subscribers on a previously offered annual plan continue under their existing terms. By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. A Season Pass and a lifetime purchase are each a single, one-time charge; the lifetime purchase is described further in Section 3.4. You are responsible for keeping your payment information current.
3.3 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel a recurring subscription at any time through the subscription management portal. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features through the end of your current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods. A Season Pass and a lifetime purchase are one-time payments with no recurring billing to cancel; a Season Pass provides access for one year and then expires. Except where a refund is required by applicable law, Season Pass and lifetime purchases are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us at https://ridecave.com/contact.
3.4 Lifetime Access
"Lifetime" means access to Cave Crew for as long as Ride Cave continues to operate the Service. It is not a guarantee of access for any specific number of years and does not continue if the Service is discontinued. Lifetime access is tied to a single account, is personal to you, and is non-transferable; it may not be sold, shared, gifted, or reassigned. AI features (such as Atlas) and real-time features (such as group rides and voice) remain subject to reasonable fair-use limits so the Service stays sustainable for everyone, and we may adjust those limits with reasonable notice. If we permanently discontinue the Service or the Cave Crew offering, lifetime access ends; we will provide reasonable advance notice where practical.
If we permanently discontinue the Service or the Cave Crew offering within twelve (12) months after your lifetime purchase, we will provide a pro-rata refund of your lifetime purchase price based on the portion of that twelve-month period remaining at the time of discontinuation. In addition, if we transfer the Service to a successor, for example through a sale of the business, we will require the successor to agree to honor existing lifetime access on substantially equivalent terms as a condition of the transfer.
3.5 Promotional Offers
From time to time we may make promotional pricing, discounts, or other limited offers available, including on lifetime purchases. Any such offer is available only to eligible accounts as we determine, applies only for the period and up to any quantity stated with the offer, and is subject to the specific terms presented at that time. Eligibility is verified at the time of purchase. An offer that has expired or reached its stated limit is no longer available and cannot be claimed or applied retroactively. We may modify, suspend, or withdraw a promotional offer at any time before you complete a purchase. Promotional pricing applies only to the purchase made under that offer and does not carry over to renewals or future purchases unless we expressly state otherwise. Any sweepstakes, contests, giveaways, or prize-based challenges we run are governed by their own official rules made available at the time, which control for that promotion.
3.6 Price Changes
We may change the prices of our subscriptions and of future lifetime purchases. If we change pricing, we will provide reasonable advance notice. For recurring subscriptions, price changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle following the notice, and your continued use of paid features after that constitutes acceptance of the new price. A price change does not affect a lifetime purchase you have already completed; it applies only to purchases made after the change.
3.7 Add-Ons and Separate Purchases
Your Cave Crew membership, including lifetime access, covers the Cave Crew membership features only. It is not a credit toward, and does not include, separate or optional purchases we may offer from time to time, whether digital or physical. Examples include virtual goods, cosmetic or customization items (such as rider or kit customizations), consumable items, virtual currency, physical goods and merchandise, media, and tickets to or access for events. Any such items are sold separately, are subject to the terms presented at the time of purchase, and, except where required by law, are non-refundable and have no cash value. We may add, change, reprice, or discontinue these offerings at any time.
3.8 Scope of Membership
Lifetime access applies to the Cave Crew membership for the Ride Cave cycling service, including new features and improvements we add to that membership over time. It does not automatically extend to separate or standalone products or services we may launch in the future that are outside the Cave Crew cycling membership, such as a distinct multi-sport product, a separate application, or a materially different standalone offering. We may offer any such new product as a separate purchase or subscription with its own pricing and terms.
3.9 Advertising, Content, and Third-Party Fees
A Cave Crew membership, including lifetime access, does not guarantee an advertising-free, sponsorship-free, or marketing-free experience, and we may present advertisements, sponsored content, partner promotions, or marketing within the Service. It does not include or entitle you to separate content, media, community, or event offerings that we or third parties may make available, such as podcasts, newsletters, creator or membership communities, live or in-person events, or merchandise, which may carry their own access requirements or fees. It also does not cover any fees, subscriptions, hardware, or other charges imposed by third-party services, platforms, or integrations, which remain your responsibility under those third parties' own terms.
3.10 Suspension and Revocation
Access to the Service, including lifetime access, is a license to use the Service, not an ownership interest, and it may be suspended or revoked. We may suspend or permanently revoke your access, including lifetime access, without refund, if you violate these Terms (for example, through cheating, abuse, fraud, or other prohibited conduct), or if a payment for your membership is reversed, charged back, or found to be fraudulent. Where circumstances reasonably permit, we will give you notice and a chance to resolve the issue first, but we may act immediately when necessary to protect the Service or its users.
3.11 Taxes
Prices shown may not include applicable taxes, such as sales tax or value-added tax (VAT). You are responsible for any taxes associated with your purchases, which may be calculated and collected at the time of purchase.
3.12 Automatic Renewal and Cancellation
If you choose a recurring monthly subscription, it automatically renews at the end of each billing period until you cancel. At the start of each period, we, through our payment processor Stripe, charge your payment method the then-current price for that period plus any applicable taxes. By starting a recurring subscription, you authorize these automatic, recurring charges. We disclose the billing frequency and amount before you purchase, and, where required by law, we will send renewal or price-change reminders. You may cancel at any time through the subscription management portal; cancellation stops future renewals, takes effect at the end of your current paid period, and you keep access to paid features until then. A Season Pass and a one-time lifetime purchase do not automatically renew; a Season Pass simply expires at the end of its one-year term unless you choose to purchase again.
4. User Accounts
4.1 Account Registration
Certain features of the Service require you to create an account. When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
4.2 Account Security
You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.
4.3 Guest Mode
You may use certain features of the Service without creating an account ("Guest Mode"). Data created in Guest Mode is stored locally on your device and is not backed up to our servers. You acknowledge that Guest Mode data may be permanently lost if you clear your browser data or switch devices.
5. Assumption of Risk
YOU EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.
5.1 Physical Activity Risks
The Service is designed for use with indoor cycling and fitness equipment. Physical exercise carries inherent risks, including but not limited to risk of injury, illness, disability, or death. You acknowledge that:
- You are voluntarily participating in physical activities using the Service and assume all risks associated with such activities.
- You should consult with a qualified healthcare provider before beginning any exercise program, including using the Service or following any AI-generated training plans or workouts.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that you are physically capable of participating in the activities facilitated by the Service.
- You are responsible for properly setting up, maintaining, and using your fitness equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
5.2 Data and Technology Risks
You acknowledge and assume all risks related to:
- The accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any data, metrics, or information provided by the Service, including power output, heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate, ventilation, and other fitness and health-related measurements and derived analytics.
- The accuracy, suitability, or safety of any AI-generated content, including workouts, training plans, analysis, and coaching suggestions provided by Atlas.
- The accuracy of any health-related analytics, including but not limited to HRV metrics, PVC pattern detection, breathing analysis, cardiac drift analysis, and energy system metrics. These analytics are derived from consumer-grade sensors using general-purpose algorithms and are not validated for clinical or diagnostic use.
- Compatibility issues between the Service and your fitness devices, including smart trainers, heart rate monitors, power meters, and breathing sensors.
- Data loss due to technical failures, service interruptions, or discontinuation of the Service.
- Any decisions you make based on data or information provided by the Service, including AI-generated recommendations and computed health or fitness analytics.
5.3 Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services such as Strava, Intervals.icu, Discord, and other fitness and social platforms. We may add or remove third-party integrations at any time. Your use of such third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or functionality of any third-party services or for any actions taken by third-party service providers.
5.4 Group Riding and Voice Communication Risks
When participating in group sessions, your live performance data (power, heart rate, cadence) is shared in real time with other participants. Voice communication in groups is transmitted through a third-party service. You acknowledge that other participants may hear your voice and see your performance data during group sessions. You participate in group sessions voluntarily and at your own risk.
5.5 Nutrition and Fueling Guidance; Not Medical Advice
The Service may provide nutrition, fueling, and body-composition guidance, including estimated calorie, carbohydrate, and protein targets and on-bike fueling suggestions. This guidance is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is generated automatically from the data you provide and from general sports-science models. It is not medical, dietary, nutritional, or professional health advice, is not individualized to your medical history, and is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified physician, registered dietitian, or other healthcare professional.
These estimates are approximations that may not be accurate for your body, health conditions, or circumstances, and they carry inherent uncertainty. You should consult an appropriate professional before making significant changes to your diet, training, or nutrition, particularly if you are pregnant, are a minor, have a history of disordered eating, or have any medical condition such as diabetes. While the Service includes conservative safety limits in some estimates, these do not guarantee that any recommendation is safe or appropriate for you.
You use this guidance at your own risk. If you experience symptoms of low energy availability, disordered eating, or any adverse health effect, stop and seek professional help.
5.6 Real-Time Riding Risks
When real-time riding is enabled, your avatar's live position on the virtual route and, for your mutual follows, your riding status and coarse route position are shared in real time as described in Section 2.7 and our Privacy Policy. These positions describe the virtual route, not your physical location; however, if you create or ride a route based on roads near places meaningful to you, the route itself may reflect real-world locations you have traveled or are interested in, and other riders may see which route you are riding. You further acknowledge that in-ride communications may expose you to messages from other users that we do not review before delivery, and that although free-text chat is limited to verified adults and filtered for profanity, no automated filter is perfect. You participate voluntarily and at your own risk, and you may at any time turn off real-time riding, turn off in-ride communications, or block another user.
6. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other user accounts, or any computer systems or networks connected to the Service.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or the data contained therein.
- Upload, transmit, or distribute any viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
- Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users of the Service, whether through text, voice communication, or any other means.
- Impersonate any person or entity or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Use any automated means, including bots, scrapers, or crawlers, to access the Service without our express written permission.
- Manipulate leaderboards, records, or other competitive features through fraudulent means.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Service.
- Use Atlas or any AI features to generate content that is harmful, illegal, abusive, or that violates any third party's rights.
- Attempt to circumvent age restrictions, subscription limits, or other access controls.
6.1 Fair Play and Anti-Cheating
Ride Cave provides competitive features including leaderboards, race results, track records, and challenge scores. To ensure a fair experience for all users, the following rules apply:
- You must not use any device, software, or method to artificially inflate or manipulate your power data, speed, cadence, or any other performance metrics submitted to the Service.
- You must not exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended behavior in the Service to gain an unfair advantage in competitive features.
- You must not use modified firmware, unauthorized hardware configurations, or any form of data injection to submit fabricated or altered performance data.
- You must not share your account credentials with others to allow them to compete under your identity.
If we determine, in our sole discretion, that a user has engaged in cheating or unfair play, we reserve the right to take any or all of the following actions without prior notice:
- Remove, void, or revert any records, race results, challenge scores, or leaderboard entries achieved through cheating or unnatural circumstances.
- Delete or reset performance data associated with the user's account.
- Temporarily or permanently suspend the user's account.
- Permanently ban the user from the platform, including the creation of new accounts.
6.2 Group, Voice, and Real-Time Session Conduct
When using group features, voice communication, or real-time riding sessions, you additionally agree to:
- Treat all participants with respect and refrain from abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or harassing speech.
- Not transmit obscene, offensive, or inappropriate audio content.
- Comply with directions from group hosts, including muting requests.
- Not record or redistribute other participants' voice communications or performance data without their consent.
- Not disrupt group sessions through excessive noise, spam, or intentional interference.
6.3 In-Ride Chat and Quick-Messages
In-ride chat exists for brief, friendly communication between riders during a live session. Free-text chat is available only to verified adults; quick-messages are available to all riders. Messages are filtered on our servers, delivered live to riders in your session, and never stored. You should have no expectation that we retain chat content, and we generally cannot retrieve or produce past messages, because they do not exist after delivery.
When using in-ride chat or quick-messages, you agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, demean, shame, or target any rider, or reference another rider's performance in a demeaning way.
- Impersonate any person, team, or Ride Cave itself.
- Spam, advertise, solicit, or attempt to move conversations off-platform for improper purposes.
- Ask other users for personal information, or share your own or anyone else's personal information (such as addresses or contact details).
- Attempt to defeat, bypass, or probe the profanity filter, the adult age gate, or any other chat safeguard.
We may, in our sole discretion and without prior notice, restrict, suspend, or permanently remove your access to chat, quick-messages, presence, or any other real-time feature, independently of your account standing or membership tier, if we believe you have violated these Terms. Blocking a user removes the follow relationship in both directions and prevents them from seeing your presence.
7. User Content
7.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you create or upload to the Service, including custom workouts, profile information, training notes, and images submitted to Atlas ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
7.2 Public Content
If you choose to make User Content publicly available — such as enabling a public profile, sharing custom workouts, or posting leaderboard entries — you acknowledge that such content may be viewed, used, and shared by other users of the Service. You can control the visibility of your profile and specific categories of content through your privacy settings.
7.3 Content Standards
You are solely responsible for your User Content, including any content communicated via voice chat in groups or via in-ride chat and quick-messages. You agree not to submit User Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable. We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or that we deem inappropriate in our sole discretion.
7.4 Routes and User-Uploaded GPS Data
The Routes feature allows you to upload GPS route files (GPX, TCX, or FIT format) containing geographic coordinates, elevation data, and related metadata ("Route Content"). By uploading a Route Content file, you represent and warrant that:
- you recorded the GPS data yourself or obtained it from a source that authorizes redistribution; and
- uploading and sharing the Route Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.
Routes are private by default. If you choose to make a route public, you acknowledge that its GPS coordinates and metadata will be visible to all Ride Cave users and may be cloned by other users for their personal use. You can return a public route to private or delete it at any time. Deleting a route permanently removes its GPS data from our systems. We reserve the right to remove public Route Content that violates these Terms.
7.5 Copyright Complaints and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, you may send a notice to our designated agent that includes: (a) your physical or electronic signature; (b) identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed; (c) identification of the material you claim is infringing and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it; (d) your contact information; (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Send copyright notices to our designated agent: Ben Snyder, Cave Works LLC, 4320 East Timberwood Dr., Traverse City, MI 49686-3836, by email at info@cave.work, or through https://ridecave.com/contact. If we remove material in response to a notice, the person who posted it may submit a counter-notice. We handle notices and counter-notices in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. Section 512, and we will, in appropriate circumstances, terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Our Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, features, functionality, graphics, logos, and all other content not submitted by users, is owned by Cave Works LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. "Ride Cave," "Atlas," and related logos are trademarks of Cave Works LLC.
8.2 Limited License
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. This license does not include the right to modify, copy, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service.
8.3 AI-Generated Content
Workouts, training plans, and other content generated by Atlas for your personal use may be used, modified, and shared by you. However, the underlying AI technology, prompts, and systems remain our intellectual property. You may not attempt to extract, reverse engineer, or replicate the AI models or systems powering Atlas.

10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL CAVE WORKS LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) OR THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY SPECIFICALLY APPLIES TO, WITHOUT LIMITATION: (A) ANY INJURY, ILLNESS, OR HARM ARISING FROM FOLLOWING AI-GENERATED WORKOUTS OR TRAINING PLANS; (B) ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE ARISING FROM PARTICIPATION IN GROUP SESSIONS; (C) ANY CONTENT COMMUNICATED BY OTHER USERS VIA VOICE CHAT OR OTHER MEANS; (D) ANY INACCURACY IN DATA, METRICS, OR AI-GENERATED CONTENT; AND (E) ANY INJURY, HARM, OR ADVERSE OUTCOME ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON HEALTH AND FITNESS ANALYTICS, INCLUDING HEART RATE VARIABILITY METRICS, PVC DETECTION, BREATHING ANALYSIS, OR ANY OTHER DERIVED HEALTH METRICS PROVIDED BY THE SERVICE.
THE LIMITATIONS IN THIS SECTION APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, STATUTE, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR OTHERWISE, AND REGARDLESS OF WHETHER WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IF THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOU, SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU, AND YOU MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL RIGHTS.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Cave Works LLC, its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns (collectively, the "Indemnified Parties") from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and court costs) arising out of or relating to:
- Your use of the Service or any activities conducted through your account.
- Your violation of these Terms or any applicable laws or regulations.
- Your violation of any rights of any third party, including intellectual property rights or privacy rights.
- Any User Content you submit, post, or transmit through the Service, including voice communications.
- Any injury, illness, death, or property damage arising from your use of fitness equipment in connection with the Service.
- Any injury or harm resulting from your reliance on AI-generated content, including workouts and training plans.
- Any injury or harm resulting from your reliance on health and fitness analytics provided by the Service, including heart rate variability, PVC detection, breathing metrics, or any other derived health data.
- Your conduct during group sessions, including voice communications.
- Your negligent or wrongful conduct.
We reserve the right, at our own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which event you agree to cooperate with us in asserting any available defenses. You agree not to settle any matter without our prior written consent.
This indemnification obligation shall survive the termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.
12. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
12.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute resolution proceedings, you agree to first contact us at https://ridecave.com/contact to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will attempt to resolve the dispute by contacting you via email. If the dispute is not resolved within thirty (30) days of submission, either party may proceed to binding arbitration as set forth below.
12.2 Binding Arbitration
ANY DISPUTE, CONTROVERSY, OR CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, INCLUDING THE DETERMINATION OF THE SCOPE OR APPLICABILITY OF THIS AGREEMENT TO ARBITRATE, SHALL BE RESOLVED BY BINDING ARBITRATION ADMINISTERED BY THE AMERICAN ARBITRATION ASSOCIATION ("AAA") IN ACCORDANCE WITH ITS CONSUMER ARBITRATION RULES.
The arbitration shall be conducted by a single arbitrator. The seat of arbitration shall be Michigan. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding, and judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
12.3 Class Action Waiver
YOU AND CAVE WORKS LLC AGREE THAT EACH PARTY MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. Unless both parties agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not otherwise preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding.
12.4 Exceptions
Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property rights or to prevent irreparable harm pending arbitration.
12.5 Opt-Out
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice of your decision to opt out to us at https://ridecave.com/contact within thirty (30) days of first accepting these Terms. Your notice must include your name, email address, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of the arbitration agreement. If we later update these Terms and you continue using the Service, that does not restart or waive an opt-out you have already submitted, and it does not create a new opt-out window unless we expressly say so.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Subject to the arbitration agreement above, any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and the parties hereby consent to personal jurisdiction and venue therein.
14. Termination
14.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at https://ridecave.com/contact. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. If you have an active paid subscription, cancellation of your account does not automatically entitle you to a refund for the remaining subscription period.
14.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Reasons for termination may include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, abusive conduct in groups, voice chat, or in-ride chat, cheating, or extended periods of inactivity.
14.3 Effect of Termination
Terminating your account is different from letting a paid membership lapse or moving to a lower tier. As described in Section 3.1, a lapse or downgrade does not delete the content you have created (such as your rides, plans, workouts, routes, and history); you keep it and simply lose access to paid features. If your account itself is terminated or you request its deletion, your license to use the Service terminates and we may delete your account and its associated data, subject to the retention practices and export options described in our Privacy Policy. The following sections shall survive termination: Assumption of Risk, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution and Arbitration, Governing Law, and any other provisions that by their nature should survive.
15. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms on the Service with a new "Last Updated" date. For material changes that affect your rights or obligations, we may also notify you via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
16. General Provisions
16.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Cave Works LLC concerning the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, proposals, and agreements, whether oral or written.
16.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
16.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by us.
16.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction. Subject to the foregoing, these Terms shall bind and inure to the benefit of the parties and their respective successors and assigns.
16.5 No Third-Party Beneficiaries
These Terms do not create any third-party beneficiary rights in any individual or entity that is not a party to these Terms.
16.6 Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, strikes, or shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.
16.7 International Users and Local Consumer Rights
We operate the Service from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you are responsible for complying with your local laws. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable rights you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country or state of residence, and to the extent any provision here conflicts with those non-waivable rights, those rights prevail for you. Where your local law gives you a statutory right to cancel or withdraw from a purchase of digital content or services, you agree that by choosing to access paid features immediately after purchase you request that we begin providing them right away, and, where permitted by that law, you acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may be lost once we have begun.
