Ride Anywhere
Generate cycling routes for any location on Earth. Search for a place, drop waypoints on the map, and Ride Cave builds a rideable route with real elevation data.
Uploading GPS files is great when you already have a route in mind. But sometimes you want to ride somewhere new without hunting for a file. Ride Anywhere lets you generate a cycling route for any location in the world, directly inside Ride Cave.
Search and Place Waypoints
Open the Routes tab, click Ride Anywhere, and search for a location. The map centers on your chosen area. Click anywhere on the map to place numbered waypoints — up to 23 — and drag them to fine-tune your route. A dashed line connects your waypoints to show the rough shape before generating.
An undo button removes the last waypoint, and a clear button resets everything so you can start over.
One Waypoint or Many
Drop a single waypoint and set a target distance between 5 and 200 km. Ride Cave generates a loop route around that point, placing additional waypoints at varying radii for a natural shape. If the routed distance is more than 20% off your target, the system automatically adjusts and re-routes.
Drop two or more waypoints and Ride Cave routes through them in order. The estimated distance updates as you add points. This mode is useful when you want to draw a specific path — an out-and-back, a point-to-point, or a custom loop through places you choose.
Real Roads and Real Elevation
Routes follow actual cycling roads via the Mapbox Directions API. The result is a path that follows real streets and bike paths, not straight lines between points.
After generation, Ride Cave applies DEM elevation correction using digital elevation model data to produce accurate grade profiles. This means the climbs and descents on your trainer match the real terrain, even if the original GPS data was approximate.
Preview and Ride
Generated routes flow into the same editor as uploaded routes. You see the full elevation profile, can trim with drag handles, add a name and description, and save to your library. From there, start riding and your trainer adjusts resistance in real time as the terrain changes.
Every route panel works with generated routes: the live elevation profile, the 2D map, and the 3D satellite fly-through all track your position as you ride.
Getting Started
Head to the Routes tab and click Ride Anywhere. Search for a location, place your waypoints, and generate. Your route is ready to ride in seconds.
